 Robyn Gibboney, PhD, GPC

Robyn Gibboney has spent her whole career in education and the nonprofit sector, focusing on fundraising since 1997. She has specialized in the grants field since 2003, and earned her certification (GPC) from the Grant Professionals Certification Institute (GPCI) in 2012. She has served as president of two different Grant Professionals Association (GPA) chapters, one in the Memphis area and one in Greater Cincinnati. She has also served on the GPA Publications Committee in different capacities since 2009. As a community volunteer, board member and employee, she has acquired an appreciation for the challenges that nonprofit leaders face on a daily basis.

  • 15+ years in the grants field and a record of success in obtaining corporate, foundation and government funding
  • PhD in higher education administration and philanthropic studies; former faculty member at Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University (before it became the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy)
  • Trained evaluator and published researcher on service-learning
  • Presenter at local and national conferences
  • Proficient in Spanish and French

Dr. Gibboney began her career in higher education in Indianapolis. After moving to Memphis, she worked for the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis and then Rhodes College. While there she was part of a team that built successful relationships with numerous Memphis-based foundations as well as such major corporations as FedEx. Her record of success also includes large grants from federal agencies and national foundations, including Mellon, Teagle, Arthur Vining Davis and the Priddy Charitable Trust. In addition to consulting, she currently serves as Director of Grants for Cincinnati Museum Center, where she brought in more than $1 million in private and corporate foundation grants in 2017.
